For this project, we had to go out and take pictures of things that are blue. Here are ten of the pictures I took. In order to take a good photo, I had to get the lighting right and make sure that the subject i was photographing was not underexposed or overexposed.
There are many song lyrics that use the word blue. One example is, "I'll have a Blue Christmas without you. I'll be so Blue just thinking about you Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree Won't be the same" from the song Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley.
There is also "Blue moon Blue moon Blue moon, keep a-shining bright Blue moon, keep on a-shining bright You're gonna bring-a me back-a my baby tonight Blue moon," from the song Blue moon of Kentucky which is also by Elvis Presley.
Another example would be "I see skies of Blue And clouds of white The bright blessed day The dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world" from the song What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.
The color blue does have a meaning to me, I have always associated it with the feeling of sadness. I also associate it with the feeling of cold. After doing some research, I have learned that blue being associated with boys came to be because of a trend in the 1940s.
Apparently the trend started in 1940 when baby boomers dressed their boys in blue and girls in pink. They claimed that pink is a delicate color that suits girls and blue is vigorous, perfect for boys. With a surge in gender-oriented activities in 1980 and onward, pink became a fashion trend for girls and blue for boys.
According to research blue is used to represent freedom, open space, intuition and imagination. Blue also represents depth, sincerity and wisdom.
